The "later" band has a weimar eagle/63 and the early has no WaA marking.
I DO have another rounded sling loop type that also has weimar/63 on it though.

ta and chas that is pretty interesting. if you look on page 9 of law's book there is a photo of a drp with that round narrow loop band. so maybe there was a design change for the k98.

That's why I bring it up.
My 34 Banner D/R had that rounded sling loop BUT the pile of matching number parts are the same style AND are WaA 63'ed parts...?

I would say the barrel band change occured somewhere in the 1937 time frame and it probably varied by manufacturer. Of the K98k's that I have, 1936 and earlier have the curved band. My 1937 S/42 "L" block still has the curved band whereas my 1937 S/147 "N" block has a straight band.

My s/42 G had one with the early stamp.

I think its a H or K block, mauser then went to the e/63.

What block are the parts from?

..
Both of them (and the matched number family of other bits) came out of the parts bin "elephant's graveyard" so there's no letter block available...
