For our non-UK based forum members.

In a UK based forum the NRA of Great Britain is considering what it might put into a small shop at Bisley. I’ve suggested that some souvenirs for foreign visitors might be a good idea. May I therefore ask you all a question. If you were to visit England would you want to visit Bisley? If you were; what sort of souvenir would you want to be able to buy (if at all)?

Thanks for your help.

Personally, if I got the chance to get back to England I'd love to visit Bisley and would make it a priority stop.

As far as souvenirs go, that's a little more difficult. I'm a pretty practical person. Maybe Bisley or Enfield related posters - like a big SMLE schematic or something of the sort.

A poster about Webley revolvers or other British arms. A package of official Bisley targets. Maybe some Parker Hale or other British gun care equipment would be fun to pick up. That's all I can think of at the moment.

I was stationed in the UK for three years. With the hindsight of 20/20, it was the best of times. My trips to Bisley were great and I bought a few trinkets from the shop. The most disappointing thing was that i failed to walk away with a quality "made in England-bone china" cup and saucer. What more quintesential English item would have been appropriate for afternoon tea :) The NRA shop was...OK but not close to what it could be.

I wold love the oportunity to have fired a shot there.I live in Norway and are in the UK frequently,if the shop had a facility for one to shoot for score and keep the "genuine Bisley Target" I´d love it.

Maybe a tea mug (I drink alot of tea), or a nice tie pin.

Whatever it is, it must be 100% British. If I went all the way from the Northern USA to Bisley, in the UK, I would be rather upset if the stuff for sale was made in China (India might be sort of ok since it was part of the empire - but no made in China stuff)!!!!!

Probably a t-shirt.

If they could do affordable (like $50-$250), functional (not shootable, but functional as in the action works), highly detailed, miniature 1:6 scale replicas of famous British weapons (Enfield and Martini rifles and carbines, Webley revolvers, things like that), I'd be all in for a few of those too... And I think it would be a very appropriate souvenir given the nature of the shop...

Off thread a tad, but I visited the Imperial War Museum in South London in 1985. I loaded up on posters, coffee mugs, and books at the museum shop.

I agree about the 1:6 scale replicas. That would be very interesting, though getting that through customs at some strange foreign place like Detroit Airport might be difficult.
