1953 S&W K22 revolver tied with a 1938 Winchester Model 70- can't put a cigarette paper between them. No K98s called out to me this year.

Edit- Yikes, I forgot the Bubba'd Kriegsmodell byf45 I ran across...guess it slipped my mind 'cause I moved it down the road as it was Bubba'd and I'm just not as into the late stuff. Still go with the others as best/most enjoyable buys- I've really enjoyed them. If my feet were held to the fire, I'd go with the Pre-War 70.

As a newcomer in just the past few months, with only 4 purchases made so far, my first has to be my best at this time. A matching 1895 Chileano in VG condition.

Maybe not quite right for this specific forum but:

1941 Lithgow/Enfield #1-III* for $5

and a M48 Yugo with the factory pencil marks still on the stock (according to my source, they penciled in the serial # of the actions right after finish bedding and before finishing/stencilling). Paid a whopping $100 for that one.

a M96 Swedish Mauser for $50 bucks

I can't say just yet what my best purchase of the year is, but give me to the 29th of this month and I will be able to tell you. :)

Mine is also an Enfield. All matching 1916 SMLE (No1MkIII) with a unit disc marked to the 121st Field Coy. Royal Engineers. It's not the most spectacular milsurp in my collection, but the unit disc makes this rifle speak to me like many of the others do not.

I traced the history of this RE company and found that they were attached to the 36th Ulster Division. Finding specific references to members of the 121st RE in Flanders and France really brings this rifle's history alive for me.

Late 1937 VZ27 Brno all matching except for the bolt(?), event the wood is s/n to the reciever. Small shop, can't recall what they wanted but offered $150.00 out the door and they took it!!! Really NICE condition with the lion crest completly intact. I've been working on the wood since October with whiting to remove the excess oil before putting it back together.

I haven't bought any firearm this year. the main reason is, nothing out there appeals to me to buy. I have reached a plateu in my collection, all the fireams I have is the only ones that appeal to me.

the last firearm I bought was a VECTOR V89 pistol, last year about this time, that I SBR'd
