This weekends find, 1915 Westinghouse M91. Has Accuracy Stamp & Proof of Aim, scrubbed imperial eagle. No [SA] stamp. No import marks. Russian stock with pressed sling escutcheons. No refurb stamps. Blued Bolt. 94x,xxx serial range.


What is this mark on the barrel shank? Kind of like a grenade.

I'm not sure that you want to hear my assessment. But I will say that the Joe Camel ads were pulled for a reason...

Poorly struck US Flaming Bomb perhaps? That is the only known stamp I know that even looks remotely similar.

Yeah I didn't want to say that out loud, I thought that too. I just didn't come up with a creative way to say it:laugh:.

Too small to be a US Flaming bomb.

The stamp does not have much definition, but it does look deliberate.

I have a NEW with that mark. It is stamped right over the head(s) of the eagles. I doubt NEW did it and there is zero indication of US provenance. The NEW stock does show evidence of A-H sling holes and mouting holes on the underside of the stock.

Looks like it is similar in shape...alittle, to the mark on this SCW NEW. Pretty close to the same spot too. I know it's a stretch, but maybe the striker really slammed it.
