I bought a batch of old Midway 8mm Nambu like the one on the left. I also have about 20-30 rounds of the stuff on the right. What is the stuff on the right?
The headstamp is only marked with the date, 11-63. Thanks! Kim

7.62x25(?)

Looks like regular old 7.62x25, though possibly .30 mauser or some very similar round, i'm no expert and the differences between the two are not very visible. That headstamp looks like some stuff i see on the bottoms of my romanian tokarev, (2 numbers, 2 numbers, not entirely infalliable proof) and it has the 3 pronged stab crimp to match. Jacket looks about the right color too. Right primer color, right primer size for romy. No more exact knowledge, though obviously don't shoot it in your nambu.

It is Chinese 7.62x25 Tokarev, factory 11, from 1963.

Ahhh....okay. Thanks!
Is this pretty common stuff or was it probably a bring-back item from the Vietnam War period ? Kim

The date fits VN, but lots of that date came in as commercial surplus.
