[Tennessee Longhunter]

A friend has several guns he is helping sale as part of an estate. He has three alike that he can't ID and I don't know well enough to stick my neck out. Early bolt action with mag., barrel dated 1874, butt plate with matching number and dated 1890, action has matching numbered on the ring, follower, bolt (three places). Hope the photos help.

It is a Dutch Beaumont 1871-88.

Just saw three of these sell at auction recently! one had the bayonet and sling with it too! Big long rifles for sure! Withe the bayonet in plce it was as tall as any soldier I know! Bill

wow, five minutes and five responses telling me what it is. Random, thanks for the link. Great help. Spetznatz, as to how they are to be sold, the dealer is taking 30 tables at a gun show this weekend near Nashville but these are not going as he didn't know how to price them. What are they worth (ballpark). The one pictured is about the same shape as one of the others. The third one has a brown patina, very nice stock with the exception of some worm damage. Don't see that everyday on a rifle. I guess if there is interest I could sell them for him.

Tough to call. From what I've seen, it appears a fair number of Beaumont-Vitali rifles were imported here decades ago. A lot seem to be in good shape, like they weren't used much. But, they do not seem to have much collector base. I suspect it would be difficult to get more than $400-$500 for the nicer ones. They seem to rarely sell at all. Of course, it never ceases to amaze me what a good dealer can do.

The extra thick, two piece, straight bolt handle with the spring inside is the distinguishing characteristic of a Beaumont.

Nice to get three together...
Do any of them have names stamped into the Buttstocks...I ask this because a lot were used in both the East Coast (NY) and Hollywood in the Pre-WWI Film-making days...I don't know who imported them, Bannermann maybe?

The predecessorsa of Stembridge Gun Hire had quite a few of these back in 1917, when Stembirdge took them over...just can't remember the name ??Levinson, or similar??

Anyway, a nice find. Hope they are complete and functioning.

Last gun show I was at I saw one for sale at 100$ looked great but the barrel was weld plugged.

last year at the gunshows in alabama i saw quite a few of them in the 250-300 price range, and most of them just sat on the tables. maybe you can move them up around nashville, though.
