After many years of searching caves, tunnels, forgotten battlefields and sunken warships, I have a few things that are pretty hard to identify. I would like to post such things regularly. Here is the first: found in a cave on Saipan Maybe someone can donate something for that wise person who can identify all three. Reply or PM me with answers. Thanks for participating. toad

I don't know why but when I look at the upper right one I think "soap holder". No clue why but that's what pops into my head.
My thought for the one on the upper left is the frame of a name stamp and ink holder. Sorta-kinda like the ones here:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Ka...389?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b5fda025
I can't find a good pic so I'll take one of mine later.
I'll go with biff47 on the vials.

Yes the upper left is the frame for a name stamp holder. Top and bottom are normally made of wood and rot away leaving the frame. I have dug several of these up and most look like the one pictured. David.

Ok- two out of three. The cave was used as a Japanese field hospital in the last days of the siege of Saipan. Top left was a stamp holder, probably used by a doctor as his signature, The vials contain medicines of some sort. I don't know what, i am still researching. The third item holds medical gauze, which can be pulled through the opening at the top, much like modern Kleenex boxes. Lots of medical items were found in this cave. my next post in this thread will be new items .
Thanks to all who read my post and special thanks to those who put their ideas to print.

Yes, the metal case is a gauze soaker and contained medical gauze soaked in rubbing alcohol. I gauze would be pulled out through the opening using tweezers and used to swab up wounds for disinfection. The case used to have a hinged lid that snpped shut over the opening.
