A guy here at work with me, listed a demilled MG42 parts set on the local radio time trader a few weeks back, they may have ran 1-2 ads saying MG42 for sale, not sure..anyway yesterday he was at home, phone rings and a man said could he come to the door..when he did he was seized by the ATF and local LEO's seeking the machinegun he was trying to sell..hauled him off and interogated him for a couple hours, searched everything on his place..and finally had himtake them to where the gun was stored, dragged it out, took pictures and the numbers and finally let him go..after they'd examined his totally legal, demilled set he'd bought from one of the vendors a few years back..so the gestapo tactics are already starting, watch how you word things and what you say..all it takes is one anonomus call to the ATF or the law and your likely to have everything seized and be detained, till you prove your innocent.

It's to be expected. The various government agencies are antsy about keeping their jobs under the new administration. The FBI "bust" of Illinois governor Blagojevitch took place before a grand jury returned an indictment. Had the FBI followed normal procedures, the arrest would have occured within a week of the inauguration. The early arrest is intended to remove a possible embarrassment to the new administration under its watch.

I was afraid to comment on this at first. Didn't want my name popping up on some list! I guess intimidation is a powerful tool. But I want to keep my rights! Talking about these things is one way to keep them under control and doing their job properly.

There must be more to this story. Common sense would indicate if law enforcement showed up to someone's house in regards to the mentioned MG42 add, the owner would simply say, "its a parts kit, come look I will show it to you." I can't believe he was detained and interogated for several hours before he revealed it was actually a parts kit.

Ron, please don't take offense to this, but your applying American common sense to the situation. They do not operate that way, to them you are a threat and GUILTY until proven innocent. My best friend went through something similar, except they arrested him and confiscated his goodies. In the end they weren't sure what was legal through lack of not knowing the law. What they were looking for he never even owned, but they would not believe him, they said f%$k it, let the court figure it out. 3 1/2 years later and thousands of dollars later he got his stuff back all rusty and beat to crap. Thats just how they operate. This guy is lucky they didn't kick his door in, in the middle of the night.
