Here's the context for my question:
I was looking for a basic but good quality AK a couple of years ago and settled on a exactly what Spaxspore mentioned, a Century milled receiver 'Polish Model 1960.' I haven't had any problems/issues with it, but I also don't put it through the paces regularly and drive it into the ground like I do my ARs. I really like the G2 trigger by Tapco, the only thing they've ever produced that I've liked.
I once stumbled on a series of threads that trashed the Century 'Polish' AKs as junk, with too much departure from the original Soviet vision. While I can't relate to it in terms of focus or AK-specific experience, I wondered if I had just found a good one. The criticisms focused on the differences between the originals and mine, the use of all of the US made parts, the fact that Century put them together, et al. As I said, I lack the experience with this FOW to determine bias from fact with them. I'd also heard that the Romanian WASRs were the ugly little sister of the AK world, but close enough to the original idea to be accepted.
Any other input is welcome. I just wanted to know if I might have made an uneducated purchase, but my limited experience with this one has been invariably positive, given what I see as the inherent limitations of this weapons platform.
Thanks-
Pat
