Ran across one in a local shop today. Marked with serial # and code AC. No other marks, stamps or proofs anywhere on the exterior. Flat bottomed mag marked 7.65(it was 7.somehting)walther. Mag is silver.
Pistol is silver--chrome plated maybe but it has some dark spots here and there.
It looks like it was done a long time ago.
Grips are black and just say "walther" in the logo at the top of the grip.
Comes with a black leather holster--no marks of any kind on it either--but nice supple leather.

no import marks that I saw.

Any ideas if this is a WW2 era pistol? maybe commercial model between wars?
Did they even make a chrome/nickel plated model?
The are asking $299. If it's ww2, original finish I may be interested in it.

Without any photos or SS# looks like it is a WWII Walther PP that had a post WWII chrome job done most likly in an US Auto chrome shop.
"maybe commercial model between wars?" It could be a commercial model made up from left over parts from WWII. Yes, without a SS# it could be made between WWII and Korea. Yes. It could also be a post WWII East German gun with the AC code. But, still would not be chromed.

"Did they even make a chrome/nickel plated model? No they did not make any chrome PP's with the AC code during WWII.

That pistol is very late war and would be in the 300K ser nr range. A lot of these had mismatched slides & frames. NONE were chromed/nickeled! Most had wood grips with the Walther banner at the top. The proof marks were probably buffed out when it was chromed.

That PP was chromed - very unlikely it was nickeled - by the GI in Europe after the war, before he brought it home. It was a not uncommon thing for the GIs to do. Might have cost him a carton of cigaretts.

It has NO value unless you like shinney guns and it would cost more than the pistol is worth to have the chrome taken off and get it reblued.
