I'm sure some of you have seen this demo of this fancy method of transitioning from AK to sidearm before. My question is, what's the point of keeping the rifle pointed toward the threat as you draw your pistol? Because of the potential for a hang-fire?

Because an opponent taking a quick peek will see a firearm pointing at him and keep his head down. If you lower your primary to get to your pistol, every man and his dog knows you are out. By keeping the primary up, you sow sufficient doubt.
