Hi I bought this vellodog type gun and according to my Measurements the 7.62 Nagant Revolver case would be Right for this Tiny gun?
Maby or a nice Hand Grenade LOL

My books say 8 MM Lebel Revolver Cartridge OR Nagant 7.62
My cylinder is only 1.460 long tho!

The Chamber throat is about 780 mm
Can someone give me some ideas on what ammo is used in these 5 shot well made little pocket pistols.
I like this gun and dont want to blow it or me up!
A 32 long colt fits pretty good a tiny bit loose tho.

I have never seen one quite like it. It does look like the standard Velodog, maybe even a Albert Spirlet version, but the caliber should be more like 5.7mm. Did you slug the bore?

OK, now you have me intrigued. I found a .32 cal Velo Dog:

Please note that in the description it says not to be fired. You may want to exercise caution with yours.

In the early 1900's, many Belgian and Spanish revolvers were chambered for the 7.62 Nagant revolver cartrige, also known as "3 lignes Russes" a French form of measurement.

If you look through German and French cataloques of the pre-WWI era, you can see various little cheap revolvers for sale in the customers' choice of 8mm French, 7.62 Nagant, 7.65 Browning (.32 Automatic), 8mm Rast-Gasser, etc. etc.

These cheap revolvers were not gas-sealing. The 7.62 Nagant round had a good reputation because it had been adopted by Russia. The reasoning is sort of like, 'if it's good enough for the Tsar of Russia, it's good enough for me.'

Best regards,
Greg

I don't see all the stamps. Often they tell if you should shy away from smokeless powder. Can you describe all the stamps? Is there a stamp "Lion" above "PV" ?
Hi
Well no its a Perscribed Antique cause it dont have that Lion with the PV as they started useing that mark in 1898.
In Canada our guns to be considered Antique they must be PRE 1898 not 1899 like the states has.
I found out the old 32 Long colt ammo i have is Old and loaded with BP so i got 34 Rounds to start off with as they do fit but a tiny bit loose. Its loaded with a heeled bullet.

Eventully i will get the Nagant empty cases just shorten them and load them up with BP and just seat the bullets normal like as the gass seal is not in effect with these guns.

The Black powder Long Colt ammo i have is a Heeled bullet so its gona engage the rifleing.

The more modern normal NON heeled 32 Long colt i have will just rattle down the bore.

Neat little bugger.
I was wondering how the trigger drops down, but methinks I figured it out.
The trigger folds under the revolver towards the front and a little bit sticks out? Your finger then pulls it down to the firing position?

If so, I'm just really smart. If not...DUH! Thanks...

Like this? Interesting gun and comments. I was just commenting the other day how I thought it was interesting how many countries loaded this. I wasn't aware that other guns used this. I do know that the French loaded a "long" version that didn't have the deep seated bullet. I don't know what shot it.
