A quick overview of the Valley Forge gunshow; lots of things I like, lugers, Nambus and holsters. Saw several T-26's, a dozen Nambu's, did not see any Arisakas (which means they'd have to stumble into my arms since I look for pistols) and saw "dozens" of new made Sammarei (sp on purpose) swords.

None of the prices were out of bounds, high, but not rediculous. I did not remember seeing any T-94's, which I found odd. I did see some assorted loose T-14 magazines, but none of them were reasonably priced.

I was only able to pick up a shooter luger, but I did get a nice magazine with it.

I just got back, I didn't see one type 26 or any t14's.The as usual overpriced garbage that is the trade mark of this show. If you want ammo or modern firearms this is whats there. Only rifle that I saw was a new and I mean new high 6th series grooved safety all matching but no mum Type 99 #92273, I already have one. This is one of approx. 11,000 made. when I first saw it i was hoping for a low 7th series with the tall sight but no go. Still a brand new rifle, seller wanted 270 OTD so I passed

Chaz Kaplin had 6 or 7 T14's on Saturday. I saw several other Nambus, and picked up and looked at 2 T-26's on two different tables... The one I looked at closest was $650, and probably reblued, so not my cup of tea.

He's the guy with the Hokey Japanese sniper rifles.Just my personal preference but I won't buy or look at his stuff. Its been proven he renumbered one Japanese sniper to match. (scope mount & rifle) Thats why I didn't see any

yeah that guy is a real jerk. i was selling a T-2 paratrooper that was mint (not yours big ed) once and he wanted to buy it. he had two garbage mismatched ones with no rods on his table for $1600 but only offered me $1000 for my mint, matching, rifle with rod and AA sights. i told him he can stick it.

T94's have been very scarce lately. I remember years back you couldn't give one away, most collectors considered them junk. Now they are heck to find and when you do the prices are over the top. Makes T-14 prices look reasonable!

hmmm, you guys must be talking about someone else? Chaz has just pistols for sale, no rifles on his tables. He seemed like a okay guy to me, I bought a Simson from him this spring...

Jarrod, you guys might be right. Another friend in the NC area said he was alright, and he is spare on his praise, but if you guys have previous "experience", I'll be careful

Thanks much, Ed

Not defending the guy's buisness practices, which are "odd", but he did not renumber that rifle. It was renumbered before he bought it and it was told to him that it was a renumber when he bought it. So while still not truthful, he isn't the source of fakes. This will not sooth the ruffled feathers here but make sure you have actual facts before condemning someone.

Mike,
Facts are he represented the rifle as "matching" NOT "renumbered" to match and priced it accordingly. So maybe he didn't swing the mammer that hit the stamp but its shady none the less and that is a fact! So you won't see me at line at his table at Allentown or anywhere else.

i dont care what he does with the guns he has after he buys them. but when he does sell them, he should not raise the price $150 more than what is on the tag. thats what had me pissed at him. he made up some lame excuse about how his tags were old and the guy he has do them didnt get a chance to edit them. well, if that were the case, he could have taken the tag off or changed it himself before placing the rifle on the sale table. then when he offered to buy a rifle from me at 50% of what he would ask, that made me mad too. i know hes a dealer and he has to make a living, but he wont be making anything off of me. i had another experience with a local dealer who gave me the shaft on a pistol that he told me an outright lie that it was a vet bring back, only i came to find out it was a russian capture that was imported before it was law that they be marked. same outcome....dishonest people dont get my hard earned dollar. those are the "facts" about why i dont trust/deal with him.

Yeah, like I said his buisness practices are "odd", and very inconsistent. He is no friend of mine and I have never bought a thing from him. A friend of mine did, he bought a Brit sniper scope and mount off of him and while he dicked about on his price, it was still a good clear scope with original mount and still underpriced. All I stated is that he did not renumber it, which you did try to state as "fact" when it really isn't. I am not sure why anyone takes any dealers word for anything, if you are willing to sling the dough around you had best know about what you intend to buy. It is also worth noting that it now makes one renumbered 99 sniper and a renumbered paratroop type 2 that have popped up here locally, 2 different dealers. So there very well may be some one renumbering locally or it could be coincedence, but regardless, buyer beware and don't take anything for granted

for the record, i never said he renumbered anything. i do know for a fact that he was selling the rifle and scope set as matching. apparently someone bought the rifle and the story. as far as his other stuff, when i know someone misrepresents something and is not trustworthy....all of his items come under question. its kind of a shame because he does have some rare stuff. kind of like ebay....we hate it, but we love it at the same time.

what helps me on his stuff is that the condition is pretty lacking and seems to get worse with the passage of time. I didn't notice that he sold it, matter of fact I can't say the last time I really patrolled the allentown show in any detail, my $$ is usually spent before I get there and it is just a pickup point. I don't know what he sold it for I just know what it was offered to me for before he bought. I mentioned several months ago that he did offer to sell the "Matched" rifle and scope separately, I thought that rather odd.

yeah he has some odd ways about him. i too noticed that his stuff gets beat up the longer he has it. i guess going from show to show really hurts his merchandise. much like you Mike, my cash is spent befor ei get to gunshows in the local area as well.
