Special ops and troop loft are not the same mission and don't require the same sort of equipment - not for the bird, not for the troops, which isn't to say I think a rear-ramp mounted 7.62 minigun is the ideal armament for the Osprey. But for the usual USMC mission, it is gonna have escorts rather than depending on its organic firepower, so...

For Special Ops, I'd probably want a chin turret with a 40mm GL, and a 50 cal tri-barrel. 7.62 or 5.56 (or 6.7) guns on each flank, and some sort of stinger.

The 58th SOW has the CV22 version and there have'nt been any major problems with them, at least none have crashed in Albuquerque, and they frequently over the city.

They are loud and nothing sounds like them! Everything vibrates, and that is when just ONE flys over.

Are you referring to the noise when the V-22 is in helicopter mode, or aircraft mode? I have found them to be quite quiet while in a/c mode, and yo udon't hear them until they are right on top of you. Yes, in heli mode, they are no more quiet than any other.
