Has anyone used UV light to look at stock marks; cartouches in particular?

I have some marks that are very faint. I don't want to strip the original stock finish. I have used mineral spirits with an old t-shirt rag for cleaning some funk from the stock. I also used a degreaser on a small portion at the mark and still can't make it out. I did try various lights and magnifing glassess and took it out in clear natural sunlight. As I move the stock about in various angles faint marks almost appear. The two concentric circles have some letters. The only one I think I see is a "P" I have refered to the 7.62 X 54r site, that was very helpful, but I'm still flumoxed. So. I thought of using UV light. Has anyone tried it?
