We just got home from the UGCA gun show this week end, It was another great show. We set up a display based on the papers and uniform of Frank K. Frankenfield of Evacuation Ambulance Company #8. Company 8 was one of two that was financed by the United Lawn Tennis Association in the First World War. There were about 160 ambulance companies that served the French Army and the United States Army in WWI. The companies were financed by private citizens, organizations, businesses and universities.

The shutter speed on the camera is much faster than that. The title of my display was "The United States Lawn Tennis Association and the World War" from the book of the same title. It really threw the judges, as they could not figure out what lawn tennis had to do with the display. It cost me points on the judging, but I usually take the bigger prizes home anyway, and it does not hurt to make it easier for some of the other displays to rank higher (usually the top 5 are separated by 5 points out of 400, and my title probably cost me 20 to 30 points). I think I will do it again next October, with the same display bot change the title to "The history of Evacuation Ambulance Company #8 from the memoirs of Frank K. Frankenfield"

If they couldn't figure out what lawn tennis had to do with the display ... I suppose they learned something that day?
In my book that would add some points instead of substracting them. There must be different kinds of logic.

Here is something I picked up at the Ogden show, I seem to find some very interesting things there from time to time. It was offered as a Belgian glass water bottle, but I doubted it. The moment it was placed in my hand, I knew what it was, and that is a hint.

The first place I saw one of these was on gittigidiyor.com. You can not see the feature that identified it to me, but I will hint that the bottle has vertical ridges in the body under the original cover. It goes nicely with one of my rarer grenades, and that is all the hints I am giving at this point

I had everything pretty much behind glass this time, so I saved a bit of work for myself, but the barbed wire is the best "do not touch" sign ever used.
