I bought this Russian capture a couple of years when I was just starting my collection. It's an early 1936 S/237 (Berlin-Lubecker) that had the original numbers on the receiver and barrel struck through and a new serial stamped on top of the receiver ring. As you can see in the pictures, the Russians force-matched other parts to the new serial number, not the original. I'm curious if any of our resident 98K experts could shed some light as to when, where and by whom the receiver was likely re-numbered.
