Hi everyone,

New to Gunboards, I have a question on a model 94 .32ws made in 1941.
Has no proof mark on the receiver ring. Contacted Winchester they told me
the rifle was made in 1941, sent pics of the receiver ring an they didn't have a clue.
I believe the rifle was reblued but not so sure now. Wondering if anyone has seen
anything like this, thinking it is a possible reject. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Kevin

Maxwell 3412, The area of the receiver where I would normally expect a proof mark appears modified by removal of metal and strippling. Evidently the original marking was removed in the course of that process. For the originality factor, something of a pity. As a shooter, no appreciable difference. Note the reference photo below reflecting an original receiver marking and location.
My take
