Beech No1 forends were produced from sometime around 1941. They first appear on "Dispersal" rifles as factory-fitted original forends, but then frequently appear on any No1 that was re-wooded with spare parts during and after WW2. The forends are un-numbered in their unfitted state. The majority of service-fitted forends were numbered according to military practice, but its quite likely that this gradually fell by the wayside as the rifles became obsolescent in UK service. Forends fitted in South Africa (a major rebuilder of No1s) are commonly un-numbered.
