This appears to be some form of a Russian Grenade Launcher Sight. The mounting method is in question as the sight plane of the sight arm is parallel with the slide on sight attachment. Does anyone know what it is supposed to fit. I thought the RPG's used telescopic sights. It is interesting what ever it is for. Some of the bits seem to be a copy of a US M16 sight.

its for Russian 82-мм миномет БМ-37.
Scientific instrument Crane Optical instrument Telescope Balance

миномет = minetosser, minethrower or simply a mortar.
introduced in 1937, was modified in 1941 and then in 1943. was a very popular night bombardment tool for russian troops.
Not to be confused with a Finnish 81mm mortar.

Wow... it looks alot like the early KRH 71 Y 81mm but the base plate looks a little different (seems to lack the raised rim around the plate). Otherwise it's almost dead on.
