Wish to know what information is on the metal discs located on the side of the enfield rifles butt?

Is it just info on with unit was issued the rifle, did to contain a year or date?

Usually Unit (normally battalion or similar)
Issue date (month and two digits of year)
Rack number

The discs are not all in the same format, but attached is a pic of a fairly standard one. This one translates to:

New South Wales
February 1901
Cavalry
1791 (issue number)
