Hey guys,

I was able to make the rounds yesterday and look at some gun stores. I was finding Arisakas like crazy yesterday. Three or four at the first shop, very dusty dirty end of the war guns with ground mums, I couldn't find numbers on the bolts on a them so I am assuming they are mismatched. They were going for about $190. Did they stop numbering the bolts at some point?

At the next stop they actually had about eight Arisakas. It was cool being able to show my brother, a metal worker, the differences in quality toward the end of the war. I saw two numbers matching type 38 carbines with mum', minus dust cover for about $550 each. And they had a type 38 ground mum, bolt mm also. Then they had four type 99's, two had mums. But the one that really caught my eye was a Nagoya, not sure which series (I'm not that good with these and didn't have the book). It had old white Kanji on the stock, mum intact, bolt mm, no dustcover, aircraft sights missing wings, missing monopod. It also came with a bayonet with a leather frog for about $575. I probably would have walked out with it if it was a matching bolt or even if I didn't stand at the counter for so long and get ignored. Question is, and I know pics would help but they don't allow cameras, what is the value? Are the kanji stocks worth more?

Bolts were numbered to the bitter end of production; did you look on the bottom of the bolt root?

Second stop sounds over priced. Kanji on the stock interests some collectors, but isn't worth much $$, JMO.

It was tough to see because the bolt was zip tied to the trigger guard to keep it shut. Yeah, their pricing was a little high. I guess I was just excited to see so many Arisakas yesterday. I live in Illinois and they usually are hard to find. I actually saw more Arisakas than k98's yesterday.
