Would like to hear from anyone on the forum (photos) of any small ink kana stamped on the top of the inner wooden scope guide from Type 97 scope cases. I does seem that the majority are not stamped on the top of this scope guide. Rob and John have added (2) additional "variations" in previous post...so with our recent case..that makes (3) different kana ink stamping.. Take a look at any of your 97 scope cases and see if has ink stamp....and if so, could you please post. Hoping this will add to the current research being done..in the hopes of someday...someday...the start of a new book on the subject... thanks for looking..Hemi

Don's second case also has the キ mark as with Wayne's (although partial) and another posted on the other thread. I think these are just case production inspection marks and do not correlate with the scope itself.

Hi Takehito San: There seems to be at least (3) different case mfg's for the 97 cases (excluding the early 1938-1940 leather cases.)..so possibly each mfg. was assigned a "kana" for inspector acceptance? Just seems that far more of the unmarked 97 cases are around than any with wooden scope guide markings? Maybe early vs. Late? thanks again for your help...
