Looked at grenade it is not iron. It is made out of wood or ceramic. It has a seam running down its length. It has 519 marked on it .

Is it possible this is a resin copy? Here's a link to an ebay auction for a resin copy Type 97. Is the fuze metal?

Yes that Ebay one does look the same. Without pulling the pin the fuze would unscrew but not come all the way off. Thanks JCB for all your help. Detroit-1
