How long of counterbore is acceptable?

I bought a used Type 38 cheap and after cleaning the barrel I noticed the counterbore goes in 1.9".

I am hoping to be able to shoot the gun after having it looked over but wanted opinions on the counterbore first.

As long as it wasn't done by Bubba with a dull bit and his Black and Decker cordless drill, you should be fine.

My Rashid shoots decent, and is CB'd about that deep. I don't know how much is too much, but someone in the Egyptian military thought ~2" was OK.

Doesn't look like Bubba, it is centered and chamfered very well. I can't even see much for tool marks.

I had a Mosin Nagant M44 with an 1" plus. It shot fine.
