I picked up a Type38 carbine in nice condition today. It is a Kokura series 2 with cleaning rod and full mum. Nice bore and over good condition, but not matching. I got for $175 OTD, do you guys think that price is good, not so good, or about right. Thanks.

These are matched by an assembly number unrelated to the serial number. Still mismatched?

Still a good price. Check the underside of the receiver for an assembly number (kangi symbol and number). Then see if the same number is on the bolt handle root.

The trigger and receiver match, the bolt and bayonet lug do not. Thanks again for the tip on how to check for matching numbers, I just assumed the the last 3 digits had to match like most other military rifles.

Is it the early number one (16K serial or below?), or one of those in the upper 50s serial and beyond?
