Most I ever found in a Turk was an empty cigarette pack in the magazine!

That is really cool. Years ago I got a No.4 MKI* enfield rifle from J&G sales and underneath the barrel there was part of an envelope with a letter in it and a newspaper clipping. The letter had geometric drawings on it. I have it somewhere in an old phone book. It was saturated with cosmoline so it was nearly intelligible.

I heard about a guy bought a Spencer carbine from the American War Between the States and found a paper under the butt plate. It seems the soldier that had it brought it home and gave it to a fellow. That guy wrote the name and unit of the former soldier and how he came to have the carbine. A bit of a 'time capsule' as it were.

Reminds me, I found one with powder grains in the action once like maybe the round jammed and casing base tore free. Fortunately, there was no shell casing jammed in the chamber!
