Tubata carcano rifle

If a carcano is marked Tubata on top of barrel knocks form doesn't this mean barrel was
lined using the tubata process? If so does this hold up under normal use?

It may be of interest to note that the Finns copied the barrel re-lining method from Italy and called it "Salerno method". I am not aware (or just ignorant ;-) ) of any major repair facility (i.e. direzione d'artiglieria) having been in Salerno, so the name might be a proper name rather then a geographic indication.
