Anyone know of a cobbled-together anything that is available to tripod-mount an 08/15? I have a bipod and shoot with the gun up on top of a bench, but a tripod would be kinda cool.

Maybe someone made an adapter so as to mount onto a Browning tripod? Thanks!

Long Mountain Outfitters has had for sale in the past the 'female' part of the 08/15 bipod adaptor as a separate piece. It is jus the top partt of the bipod that assembles over the bipod fitting on the jacket of the gun. This can be used to create a pintel for the 08/15 for just about any mount you want. Of course there was the Interwar MG08/15 Lafette that upgrade Maxim fit on with the addition of a plate riveted the bottom plate. I think I own the only known piece left of the 08/15 lafette.

There is also the Interwar MG08 Sled AA adaptor that a MG08/15 could fit into for AA use. They are pretty rare too.

For modern Tripods, I have seen people mainly convert MG3 tripods or AA tripods. The MG3 tripods seem to be done with the knuckle Bob talked about and a longer pin through the rear bottom pin hole in the 08/15 receiver box.

Thanks guys! I'll try and chase that down. I am thinking more and more that I may end up having to keep this old Hun given that no one on the PAFOA site wants to trade a Sterling SMG for it... may as well find creative uses for it.

I have a FN tripod with an adapter that fits around the water jacket of my 08/15 Maxim. I've thought about trading or selling in the past, but a nasty divorce got in the way. It may take me a couple of months to dig it out, but it maybe the solution for your need.

08/15 MG3 tripod

I built this adapter for the 08/15 to the MG3 tripod. No mods to gun or mount. The front piece was made from a LMO part. Had to build a trigger extension for the remote trigger. All mount functions work as usual. Gun fires very reliable even with the recoiling mount. JH

The MG08/15 was made into the MG16, by fitting it to a M1909 DWM Tripod ( same T&E gear as the MG08 SlittenLafette). The Chinese T24 also uses the DWM design M'09 tripod.

bmg17a1's idea of using the socket part from a 08/15 bipod to make up a Pintle or other mount is the ideal for the DIY crowd. ( same solution as used on the MG16.) See "The Devils Paintbrush" for M16 tripod solutions.

Did not get any film of the 08/15 on the mount this year at SOMG shoot. However it worked like a champ. Fired about 2k rounds through it without a probelem. Except even on the tripod my shoulder is sore. Here are two pictures of this years set up.

It was very common in the 80's to mount your 08/15 onto a Browning 1919 tripod. An adapter was made to go through the hole in the receiver and mount to the tripod. The adapter is no longer available for sale.

I made a pretty simple adapter that clamped to the waterjacket and the rear lower receiver pin to fit on a Bren tripod. Worked great and at the time bren tripods were only $99. Not so cheap now....
