I had one single-pocket 7mm ammunition pouch for the Spanish Mauser rifle and just recently picked up two others. In cleaning up the new arrivals I was struck by some subtle and some not so subtle differences between the three. So, I decided to post some photos and hopefully those more knowledgeable than I can share their opinions regarding when these pouches might have been manufactured, by whom, and to whom were they issued. Can such information be gleaned on the basis of distinct ammunition pouch features?

Perhaps one of the more noticeable differences is in the curvature of the front flap, the length of the flap that covers the body of the pouch, the presence or absence of an embossed "border" and the style of stitching.

Again, any insights you can share regarding these pouches, especially which were used with which Model of Spanish Mauser rifle, is much appreciated.

Very nice examples you have. There in great shape!

Ha, you should have seen Example 3 before I cleaned it up. It looked like a prop out of the "B" grade SciFi movie "Attack of the Killer Mold"! I was pleasantly surprised how nice it came out.
