There is a truly great film story taking place during, and after the Russian Revolution. I have linked the last segment for you, but I suggest you view the whole film... "The Last Command"! Its terriffic. This final scene, the actor who plays the Russian general is superb. Plenty of MN's filmed in 1928

I see 75 posts already this morning, but no comment. I hope some of you are seeing this great film, with its forceful dramatic finish. Its the story of a russian general commanding the Czars army, and a revolutionary woman, who learn of each others love for russia, and the developement of love for one another..... Again, the finish is brilliant, but you have to really view the whole film to get the full impact of the emotionally stirring ending!
Thanks, carol. I'll watch as much as I can get of it.
Watched it. Fine old movie, I liked it. Different times, ideas and ideals. A modern remake would be wonderful. methinks. Thank you.
A very good modern Russian movie of the Revolution is "The Admiral." Only subtitles, but great sea battles and cavalry.

Yes Ed, different times ideas and ideals... but the scene where the revolutionary girl helps the general escape... then moments later she is killed, as well as the thrilling finish. I was so moved I cried. Glad you saw it too.
I watched the first 15 minute segment. If you like maudlin films with nostalgia for the Tsar and his scumbag nobility I guess this is for you.

I have no sympathy for this ex-pat Tsarist general who lived like a little king while the Russian people starved and were kept illiterate. His downfall to playing bit parts in cheap Hollywood flicks and longing for his "noble" past is a fitting punishment for this scum. Maybe, living the rest of his life in humiliation is a worse punishment than being put up against a wall and shot by the Russian people!

Да здравствует Великая Октябьрская Социалистическая Революция!

Mike

P.S. Anyway, those are my "thoughts on the Russian Revolution."
Its only a movie. You missed the message seeing only one segment. My your quick to judge. Shame.
Yeah I guess what the average person got after 1917 was any better than under the Czarist system.
Think comrades.. soon we will have the same system here in america. This country hasent long. The good days are far behind us now. Look at whats going on in other countries. I wonder who will be on our side to protect us from our corrupt government.

Certainly not the stupid electorate.Have you heard the answers given to basic questions given by young and college students concerning basic knowledge. Most don't know their elected officials but they can tell you the winners of American Idol,Dancing with the stars, etc etc.
We are a doomed society, done in by stupidity, laziness, apathy and most of all dependence on government.

You are an enlightened american. What you mention, is just what theyre programmed to do. There are more than one ways to break a country. Keep alert. Soon drones will be commonplace here. The writings on the wall, but who reads it?
Well, our current Czar lives better than the old one. Also, he plays more golf.
Can we take this thread away from politics? Unless we are discussing 2nd Amendment rights, I can care less who anyone of you wants to vote for....no offense, but this is not Fox News vs. CNN. It is Gunboards.com. I'm just saying.

the system you making propaganda for here dont know the right to keep and bear arms! so I have to assume you are also against this right.
arms in the soviet union were only for the police who surpressed the russian people and kill millions.

First of all its only a movie. Lighten up. Its the story of a gluttonous russian general, and the people who oppose his power. Each, the peasants, and the general are portrayed in their own enviornments. The story really though is of love between the two key players, the general, and the top spy from the revoloutionarys. Its a stirring story. Its just a story. A love story.

You mean like a chick flick with Mosins?
Thats a good description, ha ha..... Some know me as mosin Carol but Im not the one that shot that nazi ladys hat off at 2500 yards.
Thanks for the movie, Carol. My wife had a General for the Czar as a great-grandfather and a top-ranked Communist for another, so I know the stories from both sides.
what do you want here?
I expressed my opinion on a thread that posted a movie sympathetic to the Russian nobility whom I disdain. The thread is "Thoughts on the Russian Revolution." I expressed my thoughts as did you and some others.

What do YOU want here, feuerwerker?
