This is more of a legality question. Would it still be illegal to have a Thompson receiver if it was made of completely low grade aluminum or plastic? I am going to consider yes based on how the ATF sees things, but I still thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

you cant have a 100% finished one even if it is made from papier-mache. you can have a high grade 80% receiver. i would recomend Doug Richardson or if you are in a hurry Philadelphia Ordnance.

Dougs receivers ane pricey. but they are BETTER quailty than an original thompson. Philadelphia's are cheaper but they are not as good. and if the ass****'s at the ATF will ever grant us an amnesty,(or if you get yourself an SOT). Dougs will take less work to finish. for instance Dougs has the extractor slot done, Phily's does not. the extractor slot is a real pain in the ass to do yourself you either have to buy expensive broaches or spend hours hand filing it.

Ah I see. I wasn't considering that angle. If only that happens...

If only that $400 dummy could become a receiver!
