You need some California chickens.

Ours will beat the living &%%^ out of any snakes that penetrate the 'inner perimeter' of our coop. We've found a few dead snakes INSIDE the coop before, all torn up. We don't have anything more poisonous than rattlesnakes here (Sierra Nevada Foothills), but the Garter and Gopher snakes that make the same mistake of going inside the wire get dealt with by the birds themselves.

What a disappointment. I saw the title "The Joys of Springtime in LA" and had visions of bikini clad cuties on Malibu Beach or at Venice (Los Angeles, CA).

No, Marty, that photo must have come from LA Louisiana rather than LA Los Angeles.

Va chickens took no prisoners when I was a kid,

tho some black snakes did get a few eggs,

grandmother refused to kill an egg eating snake, she would just toss them out the henhouse,
