Here is a test for the Mosin experts to see if you can identify this part. Rest assured, I'm not asking what the part is because I'm a newbie nitwit who just got his first pair of Mosin's, took them apart to clean them, put them back together, and found this piece on the table after I was done. Just testing you all.

It's likely it is part of an M27, but I'm not 100% sure.

It's part of the front side mounted sling swivel adaptor. It's the part that goes through the sling slot.

Thanks guys! I suspected it was a rod nut since the large hole was threaded, but none of the rod nuts on the id page seemed to match it exactly:

Not sure how it secures to the stock, but I'll figure it out tomorrow.

look in the barrel channel with the action removed from the stock, about where the end of the cleaning rod sits. There should be a slot that it fits in. Keith
