The current Tantals look very good, but only seeing them at gunshows makes it difficult to stick a projectile into the muzzle without causing a ruckus.
A local shop may pull the brake & perform a hilbilly muzzle/bore check with a live cartridge for you.
As to them keyholing, that should be a non-issue at this point. The barrel makers have their act together. How to id and avoid an older 5.56 barrel/build, I don't know.
