I have the opportunity to buy a CZ50 for about $160. It is in very good condition with no defects and no import marks that I can find. It looks like a nice gun and am tempted. I have read they may have problems shooting US made ammo but I am not too concerned with that. The big issue for me is that it only comes with a Walther mag. It fits but seems a little loose width wise.

Will that mag work in this gun or will I need to find a CZ mag as well?

What do you think about the price?

Thanks for any input.

That price seems pretty good for a gun with a correct mag, but I would say its about market for a gun with an incorrect mag, as you'll spend another 30-40 on gunbroker rounding up the mag.

I have one, that by serial number is in the first few hundred produced. They are very high quality guns, and exhibit commercial levels of fit and finish. These guns make the CZ-52 look crude. I've never shot mine, so ammo isn't an issue for me. Czech pistols are many in number, and would make a great collecting niche for those so inclined, as they are all pretty inexpensive.

I'd grab it....

I have a non-import marked CZ50 in excellent shape. It is very accurate and fun to shoot. I tried Winchester ammo and it jammed every round. Then I read here that the specs for US and European ammo were different. PPU shoots great. It still may not cycle fully on rare accassions, but that may be due to a weak spring. The trigger spring broke after the first couple of mags, but it was easy to get a replacement as parts are readily available. Like I said it is a fun gun to shoot and one of my favorite pistols. You can get ammo from a sponsor for about $11.00/50 so it is a cheap shooter. Magazines are hard to find and expensive. Good luck.

I have shot Winchester thru mine OK but YMMV.

No import marks is a plus, I have one no import marks within the first 13,000. The finish on the originals is very nice.

In original configuration it will have the brown grips with the 7 hole brown finger extension mag (8 hole mags appeared in the late production of the CZ50 prior to CZ70).

Serial numbers started at 650,001.

Never tried a Walther mag, will they let you test fire it?

Does it have any Agency markings on the front grips strap?

Post pics if you can.

IMO you should get it. The fact that it doesn't have the billboard import marks (see pics of my CZ70 below) would offset the lack of a proper magazine in my book and make that a pretty good price. I finally broke down and ordered a CZ70 a month or so back (hopefully I'll get it out to the range for the first time this weekend). It is in great condition and looks like it was carried but almost never fired (almost zero internal wear, some external bluing muzzle wear from being carried in a holster). I found spare mags at Numrich (Gun Parts):

For $34 each. The two magazines I received look new. Buymilsurp also has them for $39 each. I may break down and get a CZ50 at some point as well (but I wanted one as a shooter and the CZ70 was less money). I was a little surprised at how large they are for a .32ACP (they seem less concealable than my Polish P64s in 9mm Makarov). I've got a bunch of Fiocchi .32ACP I intend to try in it, and have seen PRVI online for about $10 a box. This kind of quality for these sorts of prices is a vanishing thing. Eventually they'll be gone or priced a lot more than they are now. Pics of my CZ70 and the two spare mags I bought:

It would be purely a collector piece. Thank you for the advice and info. I am off the fence now. I will call back the gentleman and pick it up. I will post pics when I do. After doing some research, I can sell the Walther PPK mag and get most of my money back on a C70 mag. I might even get an even trade on the trader. Thanks again.

The guy also has a CZ Duo for $250. The slide is dated 41, but the slide and receiver do not match in serial numbers (the receiver is much later) so I will avoid that one. Too bad, as I would love to find a nice DUO.
