Haven't been around here for awhile but thought I would show a couple pics of a T-38 bolt damage. As can be seen by my rudimentary pics, the striker cocking ramp on the bolt body is busted away just after the cutout. My guess is someone was trying to do a de-cocking and the piece busted off the ramp.

This is an early Koishikawa T-38 with mis-matched (also early Koishikawa) bolt and floorplate and duffle cut stock with peened out mum. Up side is the rifle is in excellent shape and has an original sling. Not my rifle, belongs to a buddy of mine who's father brought it back from WWII. His dad was a Seabee and was on Peleliu, but my buddy is unsure where the rifle came back from. Seems in way too good of condition to have been on a hot, steamy island though. Supposedly the rifle hung on the wall of a VFW post for many years after the war until the place closed up and my buddy's dad took it back. He is passed on so can't talk to him to find out anything. Probably someone playing with it at the VFW done the deed to the bolt body.

Welcome back! Any new Nagoya toasters? ;)
Yep, that can happen if you really whack it to try to close the bolt. Must have used more than the heel of his hand.

Thanks Rob, nothing new here so far. Been trying to score a decent price T14 to display with my totally awesome sake cup collection, but none have shown up so far. :)

Ahh, the one reference book I don't have or plan to have ;)
You do know this is just a "kidding point", right? ;) (sort of)

Nag 10, how's that Harley doing? Did you make Laughlin?

There have been a couple posts with similar damage; good enough reason not to 'decock'.

Yes we did make Laughlin. Wasn't too exciting, but was good time anyway. Until my brother's motor starting self destructing a couple hundred miles from home. :(

Yeah, it's not that bad. I replaced them around 8 years ago after frying the gaskets at the Laughlin run. Now I don't have the garage situation that I did then so I'll probably take it to the dealer.
