Can any of you sword people identify this sword? It appears to be a cavalry troopers sword. What pattern or model is it? Thanks, Ken

It looks like a Type 25, introduced in 1892 Japanese cavalry sabers.

ATS76 is correct. The sword pictured is designated a Type 25 NCO's and Soldier's Riding
Sword.

Uncommon sword; I have owned one. Predecessor to the Model 1899 "Cavalry" and "NCO" models.

Best book to date is hardcover Fuller and Gregory "Japanese Military and Civil Swords and Dirks". Printed once in the 90's, now selling for $250 or more on Epay.
