It looks to me like that auction gun has the original stock. The rifle is not an SVT. It is an AVT. The stock is correctly marked with an "A", and appears to have the serial number on it. It should have the four hole flash/muzzle break and does. I suspect that the correctness is in the eye of the beholder as I don't think that an AVT would make an economical sniper. Also, if you note, in the pix he never shows the inside of the lock slot. There should be a fair amount of information in there.
I avoided the full disclosure of sniper provenance after talking with Vic about putting that info out there. Some say it will be used to fake notches and proof marks so I'm leaning to the careful side. I did state I will email more pictures if needed.
Sturm' is correct about auction posting but I didn't think it was bad since I wasn't promoting the auction just refering to info on the scope mount since I didn't have access to my pictures to post one.
Let me also clarify that I meant the SVT was correct as a sniper. Being a refurb it certainly will have parts from other arsenals and variations of course. Regarding notches and proof marks that snipers are supposed to have for a '41 Tula, its all there. I have snipers from all three arsenals and they all vary in sniper provenance.
Now, back to the scope mounts: Since there aren't that many snipers out there to generate the need for precise mount repros I suppose that may contribute to what we have out there. FinnBear had the best repros so far as I can tell but those aren't around much anymore. I haven't talked to anyone yet who has had some of the current mounts side-by-side for comparison. Anyone had this opportunty yet?
