"Sunburst", small circle with 8 lines or "rays" from it... East German mark on K98?

I was looking over this reworked S/237 1937 dated K98 and noticed this marking on the right side of the reciever.
Isn't this a DDR marking?

The marking does not have a letter in the circle and only has 8 rays coming from the circle.
