To All.........
I have noticed that I have a straight stock M-39 of the few I have. The others have a pistol grip. Does anyone know why the difference? Pictures are not possible.
Respectfully............G.
The difference was that the first ~7000 rifles were made with the machinery used for the m/91 and 28/30 stocks set up for the straight stock configuration. The pistol grip is more robust and easier to hold for many. After that they all were made with pistol grips. For more info try the m/39 section found at www.mosinnagant.net
The relative rarity was why I bought a straight stocked M-39 in the first place. Well, that and its colored stock, splice, and plugs. Now thanks to Vic, I want a pistol grip version.
