Is there someone outthere who could tell me about stock disks? When did they stop using them? None of my enfieds have a disk, is this comman? The only rifle I own with one is my Hakiem and I can not read that one!

Stock discs were deleted around mid WW1. for the simple reason that the germans could tell what unit they were up against by reading the disc. Of course many were put back later, and lots of rifles never had them removed.

Of course another reason could be that brass was needed for other purposes, like ammunition.

John, Would a 1940 BSA have an untouched stock or would the disk hole be there but filled in?

Very possibly either. In 1940 if it was serviceable, it got used.

I.P. or Ishapore?

Does anyone have a pic of an Indian Army stock disc, as found on the I.P. or Ishapore Enfields?
