Nice rifles. What are you planning to do with the 1909? Will you clean back to original looks the in-the-white parts or leave the patina? What about the stock? Wood looks fine buy stained dark from old oil and could surely need a nice clean up.

I saw that your rear sight don't show the square dots between numbers in the side graduations....is it matching with the gun, a mismatch or a replacement?

Planning to shoot it?

On the 1909, I'll leave the patina. It just wouldn't look right to me if the bolt and receiver were brightly shining while the rest of the rifle dooks like it does. Later this year I'll let it lay out in the sun to get some oil out of the stock.

There is just something about the combination of the Lange sight, the pear shaped bolt handle, and the "MAUSER ORIGINAL" marking that makes it stand out from all other Mausers.

The rear sight is numbered to match the receiver. I don't know anything about square dots between numbers and I don't remember any on my M1891 Peruvian.

I'll probably never shoot it. I have more guns I have not shot than guns I have shot, although I have ammo in all the calibers of my guns. What I do need to do is sight in my night vision scope on my PSL (in case of zombies). The regular scope is long since sighted in on the PSL and on my PU sniper.

Regards,
Bill

Check this Gunsamerica pic of a Peruvian 1909 for sale:

I've observed some that show this "dotted" scale and some that don't; still haven't checked among those over here to find any explanation to this, such as s/n batches having this markings or so, or why this was done. Mausers never stop amazing their owners.

As you mentioned, particular characteristics of this model makes it special; personally I really like the "Lange" sight. Too bad you'll probably never shoot it, but anyway seeing another one saved from either Bubba or the gun-grabbing mafia is good news for me.
