1911 parts fit/used in Star P/S
Think another member also used a barrel link from a 1911
on a Star Pistol, though I'm not sure it was for a P/S or
not.
With some of the remnant Star producers making a few
parts such as grips, I dream they will begin producing
factory spec mags for the Stars again. Mecgar I believe
is still producing the mag for the Firestar Plus model, in
a 13 round mag, and I also believe they were producing
this mag in the late 90's (of good quality) for Star, prior
to them closing down.
What am I thinking. (I wasn't I was dreaming). Only Eibar
area artisans would produce mags for a gun such as the
P/S that was made in such limited numbers. I say "why not"
though because as you know, small groups in Europe and in
the USA are restoring WWII Tanks. Sometimes fabricating part
that can't be scrounged.
I'm not a smith, but I watch those that are that sometimes
tinker with fitting John Browning's Colt pistol parts to some of
the Star pistols that emulated the Master's creation, the 1911.
Particularly the Model P & PS. I recall the Star P/S is just a couple
of Ozs heavier than the mighty mighty 1911-A1. I'm thinking the
guys that made the first P's said, if we can't say "It's BETTER than
a Colt pistol, at least we can say it's heftier!". I love the Colt, and
the Star made in it's image, though not interchangable, or exact in
internal workings.
If it's only two or three parts, such as the Barrel Bushing that worked
so well for Chris, then GREAT, better than no parts never working.
Keep up the experiments, when needed, with safety and caution of
course, brave Waffen-Brudders.
