I´ve asked this once before (Collector´s forum), but some more information will be needed. These rifles were lent from the Army to the Civil Guards and marked with SS and serial number. SS-number has been on the right side of the barrel shank in most of the cases I´ve seen.

The question is: On what kind of rifles you have seen this marking?

I have it on:
1. Tikka m/91 heavy barrel
2. Westinghouse m/91

I have looked at my M91 length rifles and found the double SS serial # on two of them and they are:

1- M91 1926 Tikka

2- M91 1926 Tikka

Tuco

I have it on the following:
2 Tikka M91's dated 1926
2 M91-30's both 1930's dated and Russian made
3 US made M91's

M91 1917 Remington, has two SS numbers with one lined out

I have a friend with a Sestroryetsk M91 marked with SS number in a Finn stock. It is also marked "Deutschland" on the receiver.

So, it seems that SS+number has been stamped mostly on m/91 rifles. Tuco´s m/91-30s are the only exception so far.

I didn't see this question posted on the old board.

I have a 1907 Sestroryetsk M91 that is SS stamped on the right bbl shank.

M28 in ski stock. "S's" are above the serial number on the right barrel shank, number is lined-out. Both bolt and barrel were re-numbered and both sets match. The same number lined-out on both.

I would assume this would have been a reverse lending from the Civil Guard to the Army? This may not be what you are referring to though.
