Stopped in a local pawn shop find today and bought this import-marked, 1945-dated Tokarev. I paid $218, about the same price as a Romanian TT.

After market "Safetys" on these are sometimes NOT SAFE. Better a hole in the frame than one in your hide. Check Firing Mech for metal chips too. Seen chips in these on several that came in as malfunctioning (from quick sloppy installs). Century sold a ton of these @ $99 and i regret not stocking up when I had the chance. Probably the most accurate long range handgun I've ever used.

I think you did great. Even with the added safety I had rather have a Soviet pistol than most of the others out there like Romanian. I bought one of these CAI imports and wish I would have gotten another I had a shot at for $275(likely $250 would have gotten it). I do not see them that often. Congratulations.

Thanks everyone. I must have missed when Century first sold these, but I knew this was an older import. I just field stripped it and discovered that the barrel matches. That would not have been a deal killer if it hadn't but regardless, I was glad to see it did. Why is it that boatloads of Nagant revolvers have been imported, but only a few Tokarevs?

Wouldn't take balls. Would take a committment to being firearms friendly (not even a big Second Amendment supporter per se, just friendly to firearms and collectors). If that one was mine (and yes indeed, you did do well, despite the CAI marking and the vandalization from the safety), I'd pull the safety and fill the hole.

How about filling the hole with a thru rod then milled out part that interferes with trigger. Tigging on the detents and seam would seem to be in order.
