Brits lost a well-known frogman (Lionel "Buster" Crabb) doing a recon of a Soviet cruiser (a Sverdlovsk-class Ordzhonikidze) in Portsmouth Harbor in 1956. Much confusion/discussion about exactly how he died. He is supposed to have, along with another British underwater swimmer, have done an underwater recon of Sverdlovsk in 1955, when they discovered that ship was fitted with a bow thruster to enhance maneuverability.
A little over a year after Crabb dissapeared a headless and handless body of a diver was found. This body was wearing the same gear as Crabb had been wearing and the conspiracy mill went into overdrive.
Indeed it did. Now of course would be no question about whether it was or wasn't Crabbe (DNA), though just how it got into that condition and where it was for the missing year would remain open.
Well Clyde let's go after this one. I need a good lawyer. We'll go after the body and break the news on the Disco channel - roughly $1 mil per, I figure.
