I am always intriqued by odd or rarely seen parts. I just obtained some. It is only a matched bolt shroud and safety set but the markings had me puzzled, well maybe just interested anyway. It has a safety with the eagle/221 and "e" on it and the shroud has dual eagle/4's and a "B" on it. I figure a set from a 337/1939 rilfe myself but its the first time I have seen these markings together. Not counting the e/4 ejector and housing on my matching 337/1940. But the first time for other parts. The serial numbers do match on both parts.

You thought right.

This is my point. The e/4 was bSw. In mid 1939 bSw became 337 for a code on the receivers and I am sure any residual parts that were proofed with the e/4 would have washed up on any of the early 337/1939 rifles but I had never actually SEEN proof of it until now. Thats all I really meant to say. I have seen the "K" marked or e/4 bolt catches showing up well into the 1940/337's so I know that part was mass produced with e/4 proofs but to see the bolt shroud e/4 marked mated up with an "e" and eagle/221 marked safety was my first taste of the transition of bSw and 337 Gustloff. I tried to obtain the rest of the parts the man had but the bolt body and other parts went to the forewinds many years ago. He may have the fining pin to it and is looking for it now.
