I ordered a NIB Colt M-4 LEO Carbine from SOG for $1145.00 plus S&H, dealer fee. Fellow gun enthusiasts tell me I'm crazy to have paid that much when Bushmaster's, Armalites, etc. are out there. I own an Colt SP-1 and SP-1 Carbine and wabt to stick with Colt. Stupid? or what? Gun Firearm Rifle Assault rifle Trigger

Your money, your opinion. Let them keep theirs. Ya never know, my #4 may be a Colt. Depends on the deal I get offered. How can anyone fault you for buying what you want? Add a Psionics unit and that lower one looks like my last Colt CAR-15, circa 1983. It was an excellant carbine that paid for my 1st son's birth. Ya do what ya gotta do...

Someone I know used to own a Colt AR-15, said the parts weren't completely interchangeable with other ARs. Is this true?

Sorry, I'm not an AR guy. Though I have been considering picking up an M-forgery of some sort since prices are starting to bottom out.

For the most part, all AR-15 parts are interchangable. What happens sometimes is that you might have a true commerical or military M16 part (stocks mostly) that won't interchange from what I understand. I'm no expert in this area but in shopping for parts for the rifles I've built, I've read disclaimers in the descriptions where it says that "this part is specifically for commercial or miltiary M16 or their varients". That's as opposed to the millions of AR-15 civilian semi-auto rifles out there. Other than that, there's no difference.

I've got one the very earily 100% Colt military upper assemblies (large hole in front, small hole in back) on my civilian E.A. lower and other than having to shim the front hole so it works with my lower, there's no difference.

Not at all, you collect Pony guns, good for you that you can afford to. A lot of us probaly wish we could afford for all of our ARs to be Colts. Wish I could afford for all of my AKs to be Legends, and FALs to be FNs.

Yes, there are cheaper and more expensive ARs than Colts, and maybe some as good or better - but if you ever have a personal finacial SHTF moment - you KNOW you can re-sell a known brand name like Colt a lot easier than some other "unknown" brands or home-build FrankenARs.

Anyway - there are the NEW "LE" 6920s out there sold by the Colt Defense side that no longer have that cool "Restricted to LE and military yadda" on the right side of the mag-well that we associate with the term "LE6920".

These same guns are also sold as SP6920s by Colt Mfg, the "commercial" side of Colt. I have seen BOTH versions are on various 'net dealers sites for the $9XX.00-$1XXX.00 price range.

Me - I just paid $1219.00 delivered for an NIB "old skool" LE6920 "Law Enforcement Carbine" with the original LE restricted rollmarks on the right side of the mag-well of the LE6920's of years ago. Nostalgia has a price sometimes.
