Those snipers were a tempting buy but I had to many irons in the fire here putting together an ex- PU and 2 ex-PEs. Glad to see everyone is satisfied in there purchase. If the PEM thing comes true I'll bet there will be alot of closet cleaning for sale on the trader or bank loans taken out to pay for one of those

Regards
Art.

Just ordered 2 Izhevsks

Took some of my hard earned, rusty money out of savings, and ordered two more Izhevsk snipers from R-Guns yesterday. I figure that they will appreciate much more than the 11/2% interest I've been getting! Has anybody heard anything of them getting close to the last cases of guns yet? Really looking foreward to a survey of these, to learn about all the new features on the rifles we all have aquired.

I was there again today - they had one 1942 Izhevsk left, Roger said they only have now 1943 and 1944 dated rifles, he also said they have never had Tula 1942 dated rifle. On that 1942 Izhevsk I saw an SVT scope which had grinded off 'CB' marking, I also saw nice 1943 Tula with scope serial number stamped on the right side of barell shank. I again noticed 1944 Tula and Izhevsk rifles with all factory original serial numbers in like new condition with cartouches on stocks. Next pay period is this Friday...

Hard to tell how many left, but since they don't really advertise them and do not worry about it, and also not going to provide forum members with group buy and did not go to Tulsa where they could sell some of them, did not put them in their new sales flyer, I think they sold a lot of them and have confidence that they will eventually sell everything pretty soon. I am sure when we do the survey we can at least approximately figure out how many PUs came into US by finding out highest known serial number. At the last local gunshow I saw one on display with serial number R18 24x which makes it rifle number two hundred forty something.

thanks for the information lenscrafter. i agree.. based on my conversaions with them, they are at or near the end of their inventory . whether there are more available to them from their overseas sources, who knows. the russians made an almost endless supply so theorectically there could be thousands . the orginal pu sniper collectors market, in my humble opinion, is at best a niche market capable of absorbing only a finite number of units at $800 per. it feels like there is a much larger market here on the gunboards but there is not. i hope they (rguns)don't misead demand.. they hopefully made a handsome profit on this shipment, but there is a limit in my opinion.especially when the casual recreational, renactor or military arms buffs can purchase a repro for $349. the good news is in branding for them. they are now the brand name in best original reasnaled condition ww2 pu snipers available among collectors...their name will appear in the first line of every sales add .."for sale rguns pu sniper"..just like kbi appears promenantly in dragunov rifle sale adds.

I've heard rumors that they now looking to bring Lend Lease 1911A1s, not PUs, from one of former USSR republics and those Lend Lease pistols are unissued and not even dipped the way P-38s were.

We can only guestimate: do they sell them in numerical order or not?
I think many of these rifles are sitting in private collections now and we will never see detailed pics of many unique features of those rifles and accessories which is a real pitty.

You guess is as good as mine. They are in a business to sell, not collect. As long as they keep selling, it will always be their secret...the Iron Curtain.
